Early years foundation stage
We follow the early year’s foundation stage which all our staff have a sound knowledge of and ensure that all the children’s individual needs are met. Learning and development along with the children’s welfare all go together so that all children reach their full potential in a fun and enjoyable way. Staff observe each individual child and are then able to plan for the child’s next steps in their individual learning journey.
All our planning and daily routines are linked to the welfare requirements of the EYFS to ensure that our staff work to the highest standards and fully support all children in reaching their full potential. With our under 2s, staff focus on the prime areas of learning. Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development and Communication and Language Development.
The specific areas of Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design are introduced to the children as they progress in their development.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework supports an integrated approach to early learning and care. It gives all professionals a set of common principles and commitments to deliver quality early education and childcare experiences to all children.
As well as being the core document for all professionals working in the foundation years, the EYFS framework gives mums and dads confidence that regardless of where they choose for their child’s early education, they can be assured that the same statutory commitments and principles will underpin their child’s learning and development experience.
We are registered with Ofsted to provide care for 40 children at any one time at our Kings Heath nursery and 50 children at any one time at our Rubery nursery. We can be inspected at any time, without being given any notice and are very proud to have achieved ‘Good’ at both our last inspections during 2013. Ofsted inspect nursery settings to ensure they are delivering the EYFS framework and supporting the children in our care effectively and safely.
